App 2: Teacher Starter Kit
My second quest for this week was to look at a folder of apps in the Apple App Store and give an overview of them.
The first app I decided to look at was and app called Edmodo. This app gives teachers a way for students to submit work, take quizzes, and communicate with them outside of the classroom.

This would be an amazing resource to have in a High School Social Studies classroom.
The next apps that I looked at were Notability and Evernote. Notability allows you to take hand written notes on your tablet while giving you the option to record audio notes at the same time. This makes it possible to take shorthand notes while retaining the full content that you were trying to convey. Evernote is an organization app that allows you to take notes on PDF files, organize multiple files in a place that you can access from anywhere, and store information, like business contacts. (The first 4 photos are Evernote and the last 4 photos are Notability).

There were other apps in the folder but the most prominent two to me were Nearpod and BrainPOP Featured Movie.
NearPod is an app that allows teachers who work in schools that provide their students with iPads or iPods, to control what students can see on their screen. The teacher can project the presentation they are giving to each device. They can also give assessments to students and get realtime results (the cyclist drawing).

BrainPOP Featured Movie allows teachers to show their students animated videos on different subjects as well as provide information about different topics. For me as an educator the social studies section of the application provides free movies and for a paid subscription it has movies on hundreds of different people and events.
